Practice Interviews

Found in: evaluations & appraisals; interviewing

We give students an opportunity to experience a formal interview. Faculty and peers interview students interested in becoming a peer leader. They ask about a student’s strengths, weaknesses, and reasons for wanting to work with middle school personalities each week. To evaluate their judgment, we ask them to respond to a hypothetical situation.

Faculty and community organization representatives also interview seniors interested in community organization scholarships at school on a Saturday.

Our business and guidance departments cooperate to offer mock college and job interviews during the school day. Students submit a portfolio of their work, including a cover letter, resume, grades, and awards. After the interview students receive an evaluation of their interview through their business teacher.
